Sims 4 crashes when launching

Hey it's been a few days and I feel I've tried everything. I can launch my game just fine from the app and my desktop but when it's about to end the loading screen and show me the main menu the game crashes. No error message, white or black screen or anything weird, it just closes the game as if I had done it myself and redirects me to the game's page on the EA app like it normally would.

I've tried clearing the cache on the app, repairing the game, I've taken my mods out to see if they might have been the issue but nothing has worked. My brother who has had similar issues with other EA games told me to go to my task manager to manually end some task he showed me but it's not worked either.

I don't want to reinstall it as I've seen it's not working for others. Is there anything I can try or is it a thing with the game that EA needs to fix ? I've seen a lot of people having the same problem on here this week.

  • Hey, you're not alone...there's so many people I've been trouble shooting with for this exact issue for WEEKS. None of us are super techy but one thing that has helped at least get you to the main menu is to move all the files in "saves" to a different file temporarily ( I just made a new folder on my desktop and moved them there), then relaunch your sims app. It should take you to menu, start a "new game", make a random sim and save it. Then move all your saves back into the savers folder and relaunch the sims. This has allowed most of us to load into all previous saves, except the most recent save from before the update....Which still sucks because for most of us, that is our main save file. Feel free to give it a go but it seems the update corrupted the most recent save file. Some people found that when selecting your saves from the menu, there was a repair save option and that has solved this issue completely for some...but others not.

It doesn't help that EA hasn't put out anything to acknowledge this error with their update. But this is as best as we have figured out at this point :(

Thank you ! I'll try doing that. I really hope it works. I hate the fact that they haven't acknowledged this issue despite the fact that it has been going on for almost a week and for so many players as well. I tried repairing my game earlier and it took me 10min just for the game to repair Horse Ranch and crash anyway 💀
