Sims 4 crashing to black and then desktop

I preordered Enchanted by Nature, since the game installed and the patch with it, my game will run and then crash to my desktop. The game is still open in my tab bar, but if I play around 30 seconds to a minute it recrashes again. I completely restarted my sims 4 by renaming the old file folder name and launching the sims 4 for a fresh reboot of the game. It was still crashing.

I then repaired my game, and something to note it the game thinks I do not own the enchanted by nature preorder bonus, and stops repairing the game until delete it from the queue. The past two days I have had to repair the game to play.

This is annoying but doable. Today even after repairing it it still will not play normally and crashes all the time. Oh also something to note is that my game also REFUSES to connect to the gallery. This problem persists with and without mods.

Can anyone please help me.

Side note: The game does still crash without OBS installed, I only downloaded the software to show the crashes. Also I am sorry it only filmed a quarter of the screen but you can still see the game launch and crash. Finally I am on a Windows 10 computer.

  • Hi vangoghpicassos

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

    • Press Windows-Key + R
    • Type: DxDiag
    • Click on Save all Information.
    • Attach the Text File to your post

  • vangoghpicassos  I apologize for the late reply.  Crin asked me to take a look at your thread, but I was busy yesterday.

Anyway, your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 errors at all, nor any system errors that could reasonably be expected to take down the game.  That could mean that the relevant errors have been crowded out by newer ones, for example there are a few Windows update errors listed.  Or the cause of this issue might not be producing an error at all.

So please try again to play, this time in windowed mode if you're not already using it.  Open Options.ini, inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen, and set this to 0 (zero).  Change the value for fullscreen only, not anything else.

If that doesn't help, try again but with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

If you get another black screen, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
