Sims 4 crashing unexpectedly

So long story short this account i had from 2013 and the email that I had for the account was non existent which was fine till about a year ago when the account wanted a verification code. Sims 4 worked fine I have 42 addon packs in the game and I played with mods on a pc with a 3070ti and a ryzen 5600x CPU with sufficient ram. I recently got support to change my email to my current one with a lot of back and forth managed to get the account back and have the order history and have access to the sims 4 with all the packs. I got the account back and sims 4 just crashes and I don't think its my setup I've got a 5080 and a intel i7 14000kf CPU with the same ram. I got onto mccc and they keep asking me if my packs are pirated and I said no I bought every pack on ea apart of one from loaded formally cdkeys and it was the life and death pack. Now I've started a new with a new sims 4 file countless repairs and every fix under the sun, including uninstalling and reinstalling I have no other fix that I can think of I have every pack installed and shown in my order history. I don't know what to do I'm going to link my better exceptions and my last crash file. My last exceptions was when just MC was installed the crash file is base game.

  • poohstones  Your description sounds like the kinds of random crashes we often see on high-end Intel processors that the motherboard may overclock by default.  Updating the BIOS sometimes fixes the issue, so please do that if you're not already up-to-date.

The next step would be disabling CPU Turbo Boost in BIOS (it would be somewhere under Advanced settings, but where exactly depends on the board).  However, before you do that, I'd like to look at a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Dave1942  I'd like to see a dxdiag from you too, but given your multiple issues, I'd rather try to help in a new thread.  So please start your own restating your issues, and attach your dxdiag there.

My game has taken to crashing sometimes since yesterday's (March 23rd) update patch. Also buildings keep disappearing from worlds since then. All was perfectly OK before the patch.

Its not you. I also have an i7 more than enough power and 1T to work with and this buffoonery has literally crashed my computer. I pay every month for 24/7 on call IT. Well worth my money. THEY cant even fix what this has triggered in my Iris Integrated graphics. Last night I was able to FINALLY get the Iris upgraded but Sims crash corrupted my graphics files and now I can play but nothing saves. I do not own one mod. Nothing custom other than what I have downloaded directly from the gallery. TALK about p-ode.

    Google AI says today:

My Q: did maxis crash the sims 4 with their new marketplace causing integrated graphics issue for pcs

AI Answer: While there wasn't a single catastrophic "crash" event for all PC users, the launch of The Sims 4 Marketplace and the accompanying game updates in March 2026 (and previous significant updates in 2024) caused widespread instability, specifically for players using integrated graphics or older hardware.

    EA Forums

    Key Issues Reported

Marketplace & Mod Conflicts: The introduction of a built-in marketplace for paid custom content reportedly broke over 90% of existing mods. This led to frequent game crashes, "white screen" errors, and broken user interfaces (UI) for players with active mod folders.

DirectX 11 Transition: Maxis transitioned the game to DirectX 11, which significantly improved performance for newer PCs but caused integrated graphics drivers (like Intel Iris or UHD) to fail. Many players on older laptops found the game unplayable unless they manually reverted to DirectX 9.

The "Shopping Cart" Button: A controversial, pulsating "shopping cart" icon added to the UI was cited as a major performance drain on lower-end systems and an accessibility issue.

    Recommended Fixes for Graphics Issues

If your game is crashing on a PC with integrated graphics, try these common community-verified steps:

Switch to DirectX 9 Mode: Open your EA App Game Library, click Manage > View Properties, and add -dx9 to the command line box to bypass DX11-related driver failures.

Force High-Performance GPU: If you have a laptop with both integrated and dedicated graphics, use the Windows Graphics Settings to force TS4_x64.exe to use the "High Performance" (Nvidia/AMD) option instead of "Power Saving" (Integrated).

Clear Cache Files: Go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and delete the localthumbcache.package file to clear temporary data that often causes UI glitches.

Update Intel Drivers: Ensure you have the latest Intel Graphics Driver installed, as older versions are incompatible with the recent engine updates.

So my problem is not something to do with graphical i dont think. the game doesnt freeze or white screen it just shuts down no error just shuts down in the middle of my game more when i load buildings but sometimes when im playing. The game is set to directx 9 still crashed. All my drivers are updated and cleared the cache multiple times i literally forced sims 4 to give a brand new file no saves and it still crashes. I spent 8 hours trying to fix it yesterday with every fix still nothing i dont know if its the update that has done this because i got my account back on the 23rd. So i couldnt test it beforehand.

  • Doing that now to be honest Im getting chatgpt to read the latest crash text and it suggested that but that was with base game not with dlc installed so im seeing if its the same for dlc installed then im updating bios ill come back later if that fixes the issue ill put it as solved. The text file apparently sees the cpu being the problem.

  • poohstones  Your dxdiag lists a couple errors that are likely or could be related to the CPU issue I mentioned before.  There are also two crashes of the Nvidia graphics driver.  That could be a CPU issue too, in theory, although that's not as likely as an issue with the driver itself.

Still, if you don't get any more crashes, you don't have to do anything else.  If you do get another crash, and the faulting module is nvwgf2umx.dll again (and you can check in the Reliability Monitor or at the end of a fresh dxdiag), then you'll need to clean-uninstall and reinstall the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

  • Ok thank you again this has been a right headache. its running with no crash now but i will keep in mind what you sent just incase the issue comes up
