Sims 4 Game Completely Ruined after installing the Sims 2

Australian user here. A few hours ago I purchased and installed the The Sims 2 on the EA app on my Acer laptop. It didn't launch or anything and after an hour of trying to launch, I asked for a refund and the game was uninstalled in EA. I tried to launch The Sims 4 to play and it won't work AT ALL. I've tried repairing the game a dozen times, deleting all mods, uninstalling/reinstalling the app and The Sims 4 altogether and restarting my laptop. Nothing. Messages pop up saying VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.d11 was not found. I have no idea what this means and am not tech savvy. I've already tried following links posted in other threads on here to find and install these but I don't understand. The Sims 4 was working fine until I purchased and installed The Sims 2 and I'm really frustrated just trying to get 4 to work. Can someone please politely dumb down how I can get the game up and running again. Cheers!

  • el_petoria  I apologize for the late reply.  It looks like your thread was moved here long after you posted and thus lost in the shuffle.

If you still need help, please uninstall and reinstall your 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes, which Sims 4 uses.  Click Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version from 2015 or later, and select Uninstall.  Don't touch the older versions.  You can download the newest runtimes directly from Microsoft:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.
