SIMS 4 keeps crashing - no error message. Top of line PC. NO MODS. Help!

I'm an avid SIMS player...since they first came out, and bought all the expansions each time. About a year ago, I got a new gaming PC, figured it was time to upgrade from gaming laptop. The SIMS 4 crashes on my brand new PC more than my old gaming laptop did over the last 6 years combined. I generally do not play with mods, but I do have alot of expansions. (Almost all) BUT this is a new gaming PC and the game keeps crashing. No error messages, just straight to desktop. I have no issues running Baldurs Gate, FFXVI, or Oblivion remastered. But after 15 minutes with the SIMS....it crashes. I've turned all graphics down to medium, which I shouldn't with this new PC, but nothing helps.

  • SpikenEin  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I've just ran and attached the dxdiag. Also, within the last couple hours, I uninstalled the ea app and game, then reinstalled it. Deleted all saves, and created new Sim, and played for about 45 minutes, and crashed again. But now it won't even load up that new saved game.

  • SpikenEin  Sims 4 often crashes on your processor and others in the same category due to the motherboard overclocking the CPU by default.  This can sometimes be fixed with a BIOS update, so look for one for your board.  In case you're not sure how to look, find the board model, which should be in the documentation you received with the computer, and also printed on the board itself.  Google "[model name] drivers" and select the manufacturer's support page.

If the BIOS update doesn't help, or you don't see a newer version than your currently-installed 1663, try disabling CPU Turbo Boost, in the BIOS Advanced settings.  Some boards call it something slightly different, but it should be there and have "turbo" in the name.  I believe the Intel turbo boost setting is completely different, so that's not the one you want, although you can try disabling that too if you want.
