Sims 4 lost 2 days worth of saves after crashing

I've been building a house for the past 2 days, I have no mods or CC installed. The game frequently freezes and I have to force close it, so I save often in case it happens. This only ever happens when I'm in build mode for a while. While building earlier, my game froze and the screen was stuck white, so I force closed it and accepted that I would lose a few hours of progress because I hadn't saved in 3-4 hours. When I reopened the game the most recent save file was from two days ago, despite the fact that I saved every 3-4 hours while building for the past 2 days. Is there somewhere that these save files would have been actually saved instead of randomly disappearing? I saw another answer to search for the Slot_xxxxxx saves on my PC. I did so and found nothing.

  • kizbyg  Just search This PC for Slot_ without any other characters.  And if OneDrive is running on your computer, whether you use it or not, check onedrive.com, both My Files and the Recycle Bin.

If you want to troubleshoot the crashing, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Yes, Slot_ is what I searched for. The only results are from two or more days ago. I searched in This PC and OneDrive. The crashing doesn't really bother me as it's been happening for more than a year and I just adapted to save more often, but if it's going to delete my saves I just won't play at all anymore so it doesn't really need to be fixed

  • kizbyg  You could make manual backups of your saves.  It only takes a few seconds to copy your newest saves somewhere else on your computer, and you could do that every time you quit the game.  I admittedly am not that careful, but I do back up my user folder every few weeks so I don't lose everything.

That is great advice but unfortunately I can't go back and do that two days ago so I won't be playing anymore. Thanks for the help though
