sims 4 not launching since the march update

I've had Sims 4 for years and have never had this issue. I bought the new expansion pack ( business and hobbies) and went about my game as normal, after a few playthroughs my business wouldn't close at all even after the notification about Sim 4 law it never closed, then the Sims 4 came out with the 2nd march update (which I assumed was the fix the bugs from the 1st one) once the update was done I tried launching my game and it would send me into the sims loading screen for a few minutes ( like usual) and then bring me back to the EA app. I don't use any mods or CC, I've tried repairing the game and then uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still won't work.So I tried it on Steam but I think my Steam and ea account are linked as it wouldn't work there either. I've had Sims since it came out and I've never had or heard of anyone having this issue I've tried contacting  EA help but no one ever got back to me, please help me fix my game

  • i managed to get sims 4 to launch but i lost all my progress (like 5, 6 years worth of plays and generations) i went into the sims 4 properties and clicked the folder file and deleted it all and it let me redownload it including my packs but i am back at square 1. not 100% upset i lost my progress but still a little sad as ive been playing that generation since i downloaded the game when i was like 9 or 10

try repairing your game. sometimes its do to with the actual game and not the mods ive had the same issue a few times and repairing seems to solve it for me atm

see i made a new EA account to check if it was my email or the actual game so i deleted the files on that account but my original saves must of been in the same folder as i thought it wouldve created a whole new file since it was a diffrent account. so it was my own mistake to not check it. i did remove my files from my orignal account onto my desktop so not in a folder so im gonna add that back and see if that works but if not its okay just glad the sims will launch again tbh

  • HollyF2003  What exactly did you delete?  Your saves are located here:

Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves

and if you deleted this Sims 4 folder, then your data would be gone.  You could check on onedrive.com though—if OneDrive was ever running on this computer, it may have uploaded your data at some point.  Be sure to check both My Files and the Recycle Bin.

If you deleted some other folder, you may still be able to find your saves locally as well.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search field in the upper-right corner.  The search will take a while, but when it's done, check the results for any older files with the format Slot_xxxxxxxx.save , where the Xs stand in for numbers or letters.  If you find any, you can put them back in the saves folder.

The ones with a .verx extension are backups and are also viable if you delete that extension, so the file ends ins .save .  But be sure to renumber them so they don't conflict with existing saves.

i went into EA a few days ago to see if it was fixed and it said to reinstall the game so i did ( had no other option) and now a "download" button is coming up but it wont let me click it, so im not sure what to do from here.

  • HollyF2003 CircusSocks  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs. that is if you can get that far.

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I'm having the exact same problem, though I play with mods and CC and I didn't get the new pack. All the "fixes" that I've seen suggested so far haven't worked for me either :(
