Sims 4 Not Loading

I have been trying to repair my game since yesterday. Every time I try to open the game it freezes on the loading screen, the music shuts off and everything. It does nothing. It sat like that for an hour yesterday. I have repaired the game, and uninstalled both the game and the ea app and redownloaded everything and it is still doing it.

  • As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Mine is now doing the EXACT same thing. I have cleared cache, I have repaired in 4 times and still nothing. I have deleted mods, moved files. Not a single thing is working for my game to load. I'm getting hella fustrated now. I have spent the last 6 hours trying literally everything that reddit and forums have said

I am having the same problems but I’m on Xbox one. It would let me load in but as soon as I click on “resume” or “load game” it stops after the loading screen. Had it sitting on that screen for over an hour and still nothing.

  • Plumpkin069  Did you try the clean folder I described in my previous post?

Marzbarz41  Please create your own thread here.  Since you're on XBox, the PC-related troubleshooting suggestions don't apply to you.

I had the same problem while trying to load the sims 4 live mode. I did what you said about loading a clean folder, and I was able to run live mode. I added my saves folder save files and scratch folder into the clean The Sims 4 saves folder. It did not work. I deleted only the scratch folder. It did not work. I deleted all older previous saves. It did not work. I deleted the newer saves and restored the older saves. This did work. I have determined that a save file or save files can be corrupted without the use of mods. Sucks to see that save file gone, but at least I figured it out. Let me know if you want the save file to figure out why it got corrupted.

I actually just had another save file break right after. I think it might be because I am enabling 16 lot challenges, maybe excessive lot challenges can break the save. A little sad though I just want a tougher more random game

  • Jacracin776  The Off the Grid lot challenge is broken right now, so remove that from any lot where you've used it.  You can choose Load Game rather than Resume and load the lot(s) in Build mode.  This may also work for the saves you believe are corrupted, and you can remove more lot challenges if you think the problem is the sheer number.

What do you do after being able to load a new game?

It is finally loading for me (thank you) but I wanted to make sure I can access my old save without ruining this new folder.

  • SixStarJolteon  You can safely copy your saves and Tray files to the new folder.  While it's possible some of your old saves are broken, they can't break any content in the new folder.  (That is not necessarily true for mod-related data that sits inside the save folder, so don't bring that over if you have any.)  Mods and custom content are a different story; if you have any, test those files first before moving over your saves.

It would also not be a big deal to break the new folder, since it presumably doesn't have much, if any, content you'd want to save.  You could simply delete it and resume testing in another new folder.

Since this thread is somewhat old, I'll lock it here.  But feel free to start a new one if you still need help.
