Sims 4 graphics/visuals issue

Hi guys, i'm not sure if this is a graphics issue or what, but in CAS whenever i zoom in or out the visuals get really sharp and deep-fried looking - this also happens with my loading screens and CAS UI's when changing a sim's gender - it's really bothering the visuals of my gameplay and I'm wondering what the issue could be - initially the game didn't recognise my video card but i've since amended that error, so wondering what else the issue could be

also to note i reinstalled the game and launched without any mods or cc, and i never had this issue on my mac so it's either a windows setting issue or just the game is being awful lol

  • willowcamden  Please test in a clean user folder, just to set a baseline for graphics.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how everything looks.

if you still see this issue, please make sure you're not using any app that changes how the game looks.  That could be files added to the game install, for example ReShade or GShade.  It could also be software like the Nvidia App or GeForce Experience that allows you to apply overlays.  If you're using anything like this, disable or remove it.  If you're not sure what an app does, disable it while testing.

  • Hi! thank you, i have done a clean save a few times now and the issue has persisted. My laptop is an ASUS TUF A15 and could potentially be the NVIDIA App/Geforce experience that is affecting my game - do you know what specific setting could be causing this so i can disable it?

  • willowcamden  Nvidia calls its filters feature Freestyle, and you can enable it through the in-game overlay for whichever app you're using.  Just remove every filter, or reset to defaults.  If you've installed ReShade or GShade, you'd probably remember, but one of those presets could also cause the issue.
