sims 4 not opening! pls help!

for the past 2/3 days since the update my sims 4 games hasn’t been opening up. I’ve tried to troubleshoot it through task manager, repairing the EA app, removing mods, even deleting and reinstalling the game but nothing has worked so far. I’m getting any kind of error pop up, it just isn’t opening. does anyone know what I can do?

  • faerivi  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Please also let me know whether you play through Steam or the EA App.

I play through EA app and followed the instructions you have listed and my game still wont open. Here is my dxdiag.

  • tomisty01  I can't view your dxdiag (an occasional issue with the site at the moment, not your fault).  So please try uploading it again.

  • tomisty01  That one works, thanks.  Please plug your monitor directly into the graphics card, not into the motherboard as you've currently done.

If that alone doesn't help, please disable Game Mode and Game Bar, both under Windows Settings > Gaming.
