Sims 4: repair changes language; missing text strings

I noticed that the Uploaded Videos and Screenshots folders in the Documents are in a foreign language. I decided to fix the game using the EA app. After the repair, my game changed the language from English to Czech. I am Polish and play in English. I have never used the Czech language in the EA app. Since I couldn't change the game language in the EA app, I uninstalled The Sims 4 and reinstalled it in English. However, the Uploaded Videos and Screenshots folders are still in Czech. Therefore, I can't take screenshots in the game. I have all of the add-ons, and I play TS4 without mods. How can I fix it?

@Hikari38  That assumes that customer support would give you an accurate answer.  Much easier would be to install the EA App on a different computer, sign into your account, and try to download Sims 4.  You can cancel after you see the available languages but before the download starts, so no need to worry about taking up space or bandwidth on someone else's computer.

One other thing you can try is renaming the Sims 4 folder that contains the game's program files.  This might trick the App into thinking it's not installed, giving you the option to download again, which you can then cancel before restoring the correct name.  I haven't tested this myself and can't right now because the App isn't loading correctly for me, so I'd go with the more reliable method above if you have access to another computer that runs Windows.  But this may well work too.

If you get an error when trying to rename the folder, make sure both the EA App and the EABackgroundService are NOT running in the Task Manager.

I tried, I logged in on another computer and all languages seem to be there, English appeared automatically as the preferred one.

I'll try to make some time to backup my saves and try reinstalling after all.

I'll let everyone know how it went.

Again - thank you for your assistance and support, this experience was really upsetting and your help has been comforting. I am really grateful!

  • How did you game the language back to english because I pretty much tried everything and nun happening?

@boytron14  The only way to change languages, I mean other than the odd time when the EA App does it for you, is to uninstall and reinstall Sims 4.  If you're trying this and don't see the language you want to play in, please let me know what that is as well as the options you currently have when reinstalling.
