adriannajam With the game already downloaded to your drive, you could tell the EA App to "download" it to the same location. The App often simply verifies the files and finalizes the install process, although sometimes it insists on redownloading part or all of the game. (I've had mixed results when testing.)
While using your friend's computer, how were the download speeds? If they were what you'd expect, that suggests the problem is your computer, but the question is what specifically. I'd like to look over a dxdiag next. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
Please also let me know whether your computer has another port you could connect the drive to, and if so, whether the download speeds are better that way. It's possible the port itself has an issue.
I ended up wiping my drive again because I got to a point where it was telling me I needed repairs and my disk was corrupt so. Download speeds were normal on friend's computer. I have been using the usb c port but i can try the other one, I have just had my mouse in it so. I got a message when doing the dxdiag that there may have been a problem with the last time I used it and it wanted me to bypass it, I tried to attach both versions of when I clicked yes and no to the bypass
didnt get the message i got before for the dxdiag so heres this one too. different usb port didnt seem to make a difference when i tried it just now
i do also want to mention that when i downloaded it through steam onto my hard drive i think, it seemed to work but was very laggy so i closed it soon after and downloaded all the packs i have then it forced me to try and update and that is when it stopped working and said the disk was corrupt, so maybe its a problem with the packs? its just normal sims packs i bought
