Sims 4 won't download on EA app

@andy40953  Please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  While there, make sure Sims 4 doesn't show as installed; if it does, remove that too.  If you have saves you want to preserve, go into Documents > Electronic Arts and rename the Sims 4 folder to something that doesn't include "Sims 4" so Revo doesn't remove that folder too.

Restart your computer, download a fresh copy of the EA App installer, and run it.  Create a new folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.  Try to install Sims 4 into that folder.

If you still can't install, please let me know which drive you're using, if your computer has more than one.  Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Summarize your bug I wanted to reinstall my sims 4, since it wouldn't start up. It kept saying that there was a problem on the EA side. I've tried everything to get it running but nothing helped, so I decided to reinstall it. But now the game won't even install. I've cleared my cache and the EA app is up to date. I tried to disable my antivirus but that didn't work either. Whenever I try to download it, it gets stuck on repairing and won't go further and after a few minutes it says that there has been a problem with the download and that I should give it a few minutes. I waited overnight but it's still not working. Also I have a lot of free space on my disk so that shouldn't be a problem. Please help me solve this.

@andy40953  Let's start with a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter "dxdiag" without quotes in the run box in the lower-left corner of the screen, and wait for the scan to finish.  Click "Save all information," save the file to your desktop, and attach it to a reply in this thread.  Make sure to click Reply, not Quick Reply, so you have the option to attach files.

For the drives, please just let me know the file path where you're trying to install Sims 4.  When you click the Install button, you should get a pop-up that lets you choose the language and the location of the install, for example the default is C:\Program Files\Games.  C is the drive letter; each drive your computer recognizes has its own.  If there's only one drive, my question about which drive you'd be using is irrelevant, but it does matter if you're installing on an external drive or USB stick or SD card.  It might matter if you're installing on a secondary internal drive too, even though it shouldn't.

@formanv  I've merged your post with another thread for this issue.  Please try the suggestions and provide the information requested in post 2.

I tried installing it on both local disk(C) and on my SSD, but neither worked. I also tired installing it on clean windows 10 and 11, but sadly nothing. Other games installed fine. Well except my the sims 3 add-ons. The Sims 3 got installed, but an error showed when I tired to download add-ons. The Sims 4 is still stuck on preparing

I've attached the dxdiag below. But wanted to let you know I'm installing the game on a USB stick. I used the same one on my old laptop and never had an issues. I've formatted the USB after google told me to but still the same issue.

@formanv  Your dxdiag shows that the graphics driver for your iGPU isn't installed properly.  While this shouldn't affect the EA App's ability to install games, it's still worth manually installing the appropriate driver to avoid other potential problems.  You can find it here:

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before doing anything else.

If you'd actually like the iGPU disabled entirely, do that through BIOS rather than simply uninstalling the driver.

Your G drive, the 500 GB 860 Evo, is also almost completely full.  I don't know whether that's intentional or the result of a failed attempt to install Sims 4, but that should be addressed before you try to run any programs installed on G.  It obviously shouldn't directly affect your attempts to install on C unless you have an unusual system configuration, but some leftover Sims 4 files on G might be a problem.  Please clear at least 20 GB space, ideally more like 50, and restart your computer.

@andy40953  Your laptop doesn't have enough free space on C to install Sims 4.  Even though you're trying to install to a USB, the EA App budgets space in an odd and unnecessarily expansive fashion, so this could be a problem.  Please try to clear another 8 GB or so, for a total of 25 free, if at all possible.  The Sims 4 base game takes up just over 20 GB, and the EA App generates temp files.  Please also try installing only the base game, at least at first.

Additionally, make sure your USB is formatted as NTFS.

it does not seem to be a problem with disk or drivers.

I tested it on fresh installation of W10 and W11 and it did not work either.

There are other games, like Mass Effect 2 that I can download and play on my PC or on the fresh installed W10 and W11.

So the problem seems to be is only with SIMS.
