Sims 4 won't launch, tried everything

Heya! So I've only recently had this issue. Recently as in, I was playing The Sims 4 earlier this morning, and maybe for the last hour and a half, I haven't even been able to get the game to start up. The EA app will go through the motions of launching the game, try to launch it, then the EA app will pop back up and the game will not. I've gone through Steam as well to see if that could kick start it, but Steam shows me as playing a game, not playing, then playing, then not playing again.

I've tried the general solution of moving my Sims 4 folder from the EA documents folder, no luck. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Nuh uh. Repaired the EA app multiple times and restarted. Nope. Tried running the EA app as admin. *sigh*

In all of this, I haven't gotten any error messages or anything. The game just won't launch. If anyone has any other solutions/tips, they would be greatly appreciated!

  • NightcallerZ2k18  Please uninstall Razer Synapse, which is crashing and can sometimes conflict with Sims 4.  If that doesn't help, uninstall any other Razer apps you have.

Try again to launch the game, and if it still doesn't work, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most attempt to play.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

  • Ah, had the same error and used razer synapse. But i also use it on a laptop mentioned in the article (ASUS TUF Gaming A15 model).

For me just reinstall the razer app did the magic, thanks!

  • Hi, encountered the same thing here. couldn't launch the game the second time i played and there's no error showed in the Reliability Monitor

  • w0seefwpk743  What antivirus do you use?  Is OneDrive running on this computer?  Even if you never use it, it could still interfere with the game.

The reason I ask is because when there are no errors, that typically means the game was blocked from starting rather than crashing.  And that in turn means either a security or permissions setting or that the user folder is inaccessible, which typically means an antivirus or OneDrive, respectively.
