Sims take too long for every action

I was really excited to play the Sims 4 but sadly its a pain to play. The new cheat codes are too long but I'll get over that. The main issue I have is it takes my sims 3 hours (gmae hours, not real) to move off a chair to clean up their dish, it takes 2 hours of them standing in one spot until they start to cook... by the time they've eaten and cleaned up the day is over and they are too tired for anything. It happens with other actions you give the sims this was the most recent example I had. There wasn't that long of a delay in the previous sims games and I was hoping this could be fixed with a free update. Is that possible or is it a computer issue?
