Sims won't do any commands on home lot

rebeccalreed​  Please move your sims to a different lot and see whether that helps.  Make it either a blank lot or a default EA build, nothing from the Gallery or your own library.

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

puzzlezaddict​ I moved houses and that seemed to help, and then I went and visited my old house and my sims were functioning normally there as well UNTIL I had one of my sims try to cook something.  The issue persisted in the new house as well.

rebeccalreed​  I don't see anything obviously wrong in your dxdiag, and the fact that you were able to play fine for a while on the new lot suggests that this issue isn't system-related.  Do your sims have a lot of ingredients in their inventories or in the fridge?  Were they cooking together?  Both have been a source of lag and other performance issues.

Please also let me know whether the problem persisted once the sim(s) finished cooking and you saved/quit/reloaded the save.

puzzlezaddict​ So I moved once more to a vacant lot, built a brand new home and didn't take anything from my inventory, and that seemed to solve the issue.  I was playing for about 30 minutes, and then all of a sudden, they started freezing again.  I'm not sure what caused it.  They do have a lot of items in their inventory, but it wouldn't make sense why they were working once I moved lots but then stopped again.  The problem does persist after they finish and I have saved, quit, and reloaded the game.  

rebeccalreed​  Then I would empty out everything in their inventories, just as a test.  It's possible the problem only gets triggered when something checks their inventories, whether that something is a command from you or a background process you wouldn't notice.

I realize this is a lot of content to trash, but if you figure out what the problem is, you can go back to your main save and remove only whatever is causing the problem.  For example maybe their original house would be fine if not for some inventory item.  It could be the entire inventories as a cumulative issue (e.g. too many items overall), or a single item, or something in between.

puzzlezaddict​ Unfortunately this did not help.  My sims still freeze every time I try to give them a command.  Its all my sims on the lot, not just one. 

rebeccalreed​  Just to be sure, was this after the sims had already started to freeze, or did you empty out their inventories while they were responding to commands and the problem still reappeared?

Separately, I'd be interested to know whether this happens if you split the sims onto different (blank or default) lots.  The idea is that you might only have one problem sim, while the rest are only freezing because the game is tripping over some data from that sim.

puzzlezaddict​ So usually when I load up the game, as soon as it opens into my lot, my sims will move around and maybe even complete the action they had been stuck on in the previous save, but then it will immediately freeze again.  I emptied their inventories right after I launched the save file and before I tried to do any actions.  At this point, the game isn't even playable enough to try and have them do anything though, unfortunately.  

While trying to figure this out yesterday, I uploaded my sims to the gallery and started a whole new save, a whole new lot, a whole new build, not bringing over any items from my previous save file.  That actually worked really well for about an hour; they were responding properly and doing the command prompts, so I thought, "Okay, maybe it was something bugged with my previous save", but then after about an hour of gameplay, they started freezing again. 

I haven't tried splitting the sims to see if it is an issue with one of the actual sims before, but will try that.  We did have an alien baby, and it seems like right after she was born is when the game started having issues.  What should I do if it is a problem with a sim?     

puzzlezaddict​ Okay, so I just tried separating my sims and testing them on the lot by themselves (I moved the household out and then moved one sim at a time to the lot where my home build is) and it seems like all 3 adults in my household freeze after a few command prompts.  I didn't test the children because they need an adult, to be in the household with them.

I am starting to lose hope on how to fix this :(
