Since recent update, my game will not launch past the loading screen

Since the recent update when i click to launch my game, it will pull up the sims 4 loading screen and it will start to play the music and then it crashes out. I have tried everything, i do not know what to do. I have attached the dxdiag error file below.

The errors in your dxdiag point to an issue with one of the VC++ runtimes, but the actual problem is often a broken mod or cc item, so that's the place to start.  If removing the Mods folder doesn't help though, you can try reinstalling the runtimes.  Open Windows Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click any version from 2015 or newer, and select Uninstall.  Don't touch the older versions.  You can download new copies here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  You also don't need the older versions listed.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

As a separate matter, your C drive is very low on free storage.  It's not at a critical level yet but is close, so now is a good time to move some data to D, which also doesn't have a lot of free space but does have enough to accommodate another 20 GB or so.

  • puzzlezaddict When I try to find the microsoft c++ redistributable in my settings, nothing pops up. I downloaded new ones, I just let them download I did not put them anywhere. Hopefully I did it correctly. I also removed all my mods but it did not fix it.

I did all the steps corretly for the visual cc but it is still not launching my game

  • I am having this issue as well and nothing is fixing it! I am also on a gaming laptop that has had no problems launching games until the new EA app update about 2 weeks ago and then my sims 4 game has not launched since and nothing has fixed it! I thought i was the only one!!

  • hbeatrice04171  I apologize for the late reply; I was away from the forums for a while and am only now catching up again.

Please try again to open Sims 4, then look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to play.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

  • hbeatrice04171  These are all from Acer registration software.  I'd suggest disabling it in the Task Manager's Startup section.  You might also disable Edge and Teams while you're there, as they might be starting with Windows.  Disabling a program here doesn't mean the program can't open, only that it won't open automatically with Windows.

However, these errors are unlikely to be related to any Sims 4 issue, so please look for new errors once the Acer registration software is no longer in play.

If you find no errors at all, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it with your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to launch the game without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user content won't be available.  That can be addressed later if necessary, but for now, it's best to keep that content out of your game.
