Technical Issue

Hi, I had cc that made it so I couldn't open sims so I got rid of them but now I press play on sims in origin and it just takes me back to origin it won't let me open sims I could use some help.

    @Queen_Jenna112  Please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save.

    If the game still won't open, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

    Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

I moved the folder onto my desktop and the sims worked fine creating a sim and everything was fine. Can I move my mods back into my sims or is there a virus in the old folder? also, how do I get rid of it if there is, I am using an antivirus that came with my laptop so I'm not 100% sure which one it is. I don't want to lose all my work from my other sims folder so how to switch everything over without my sims getting messed up again?

    @Queen_Jenna112  There wouldn't be a virus in the old folder, for various reasons.  The issue is probably some other corrupt file, and rather than testing one or a few at a time, it's easier to pull out the entire folder and try playing in a clean one.  Individual files within the old folder may still be perfectly usable.

    What you can do is move your save or saves from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one and test.  Saves are in the saves folder, and they're transferrable from one user folder to another.  The same goes for the contents of Tray, which is where your saved households and lots would be.
