The game wont start

I press play, steam switches to the Cancel button like usual, then EA will pop up and say "preparing a game" and the steam button will go back to "Play" and sims does not even pop up in the taskbar.
I've tried reinstalling the sims, Ive tried reinstalling EA, Ive tried fixing the game files, I tried restartin my computer and nothing works. I dont have any mods either.

Please help im really upset

I play on steam if it helps

  • Bunni_Cryz  Please plug your monitor directly into the graphics card, not into the motherboard as you've currently done.  Do so with your computer off.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything.

If that doesn't help either, let me know what antivirus you use.

And thanks for the kind words.

  • Bunni_Cryz  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  If it copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • I tried it with the local account and it worked just fine, I'm just wondering what the issue is on my main account?
I currently dont have a special antivirus installed.  I did have to reinstall steam, Sims and EA but all that worked flawlessly.
