the sims 4 wont launch on direct x 11 no matter what i do

With the recent patch the game is automatically set to open on direct x 11 and id love to use this feature but for some reason it freezes on the loading screen as soon as it opens, i play withoui mods and have no idea as to why this is happening as my pc supports direct x 12

i have attached my dxdiag. how can i make this work.

  • @megancookd  Going forward, please disable your cleaner app, if it's set to run automatically or periodically, at least until we're done troubleshooting.  I might need more information that this app would delete.

Do you use ReShade, GShade, or anything similar?  If so, please remove it completely and repair the game (again, if you have already), then try again to play in DX11 mode.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If that doesn't help either, please post any new errors you find in the Reliability Monitor, specifically that happened in the clean boot.

  • @megancookd  Please set an exception in your antivirus for TS4_x64, and another for TS4_Launcher_x64; or the Bin folder they're in.

If you still can't play, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Try again to play, then look for an error that happened at exactly the time you tried to launch the game.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

By the way, did you recently reinstall Windows, or install a feature update?  I ask because your dxdiag doesn't list any Windows errors at all, which is unusual.  The errors should only be erased when a new version of Windows is installed.  If that's not the case for you, do you use a cleaner app or something else that would remove the files?  Let me know either way.

hi so i do use the disk cleaner on my pc to clean any unnecessary files from time to time. i just did the reliability monitor and this is what it has come up with:

The program TS4_x64.exe version 1.109.185.1030 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
    Process ID: 5f9c
    Start Time: 01db0eccec70dad4
    Termination Time: 5
    Application Path: F:\SIMS 4\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe
    Report Id: dd86a568-3f8e-4b0a-99a0-e27531606f4e
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:
    Hang type: Unknown

as for antivirus i dont have one installed i just use windows own one but i am pretty sure i have it turned off
