Time not syncing correctly.

Hey guys! I'm having trouble with my Sims 4 game involving time. My sims seem to be three hours late to work, auditions, anything. It's like they're synced to a different clock in game. It also affects their autonomy where they don't move at all. Their needs can run out but my sims won't take care of themselves. I have tried repairing my game, I've wiped the cache, new saves, no mods, basically everything. I can't play my game correctly anymore and this seems to be a base game issue. Does anyone have any fixes?

  • @FaeoftheEast  Please try playing in a clean user folder, just for comparison.  Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just see how a new save runs, and let me know.

If you still see the same issues, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

The game is running smoothly with the new Sims 4 folder. I've had a small hiccup where my sims will freeze but so far they will take care of their needs as well as arrive to work on time and leave automatically. Will I be unable to use my old saves? They do have mods active on them which is the unfortunate part.

@FaeoftheEast  Try copying your saves to the new Sims 4 folder and see how they run.  Don't move your mods yet though.  Since you're copying the saves rather than dragging and dropping them, you can experiment freely on the new copies while the originals remain intact in your old Sims 4 folder.

If the saves run okay, you can try them with your mods, or you can try the mods on the new save.  If you notice more problems, you'll need to test the mods in smaller batches to try to figure out which one(s) the game doesn't handle well.

@puzzlezaddict So I've played around with my game as suggested with saves files and I've come to the conclusion that my game even though freshly wiped is simply doomed. My game is still cursed to slowly end up out of sync even without the use of mods as I've tested it for a good few hours. At first, it was by five seconds then by twenty, and finally, after I've stopped playing it has ended up being a full sixty seconds out of sync with what actually needs to happen in-game. It always seems to stem from Discovering University as my sim will never go to class on time or even show up to class early. As requested from you earlier I've placed the Dxdiag.exe file.

@FaeoftheEast  Try installing a new driver for your graphics chip.  While yours isn't so old to automatically be an issue, some of the errors in your dxdiag may be related to the driver.  You can get the newest one from AMD here:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-series-processors/amd-a6-series-apu-for-laptops/a6-7310-radeon-r4-graphics

Download the "Recommended (WHQL)" driver from November 18, not the slightly newer optional one.

Your dxdiag also lists a BlueScreen, which is worth looking into.  Open a File Explorer window and enter C:\Windows\Minidump in the address bar.  If you find any files inside, right-click on them and select Copy, then right-click on your desktop and Paste.  From there, you can zip the files together if there are multiple, then upload the .zip file to a free filesharing site and link it here.

If you don't find any minidump files, that's fine; they may have been deleted already.  The errors in the dxdiag don't have timestamps, so it's difficult to say when the BSOD might have happened.

@FaeoftheEast  Sorry for the late reply; I must have missed your post.

The errors in the minidump files happened with system processes, not Sims 4 or any other third-party program.  It's not totally clear why they happened, but it's worth running chkdsk as a start, to make sure there's nothing wrong with your hard drive.

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste "chkdsk /f /r c:" without quotes, and enter
    • You'll be asked to allow a restart; say yes
    • When the scan is done, use this guide to find the results

Please also check the temperature of your processor while playing.  If you don't have a preferred app, CPU-Z is lightweight and easy to use (and free).  Just open it before you launch the game, then alt-tab back to it to see CPU temps from time to time.
