TS4 Folder Works In desktop, instead of Documents, without CC
Hi, I'm totally new here, and new to the sims, for that matter, and don't really have much knowledge of how things work? I installed my CC properly, and cannot get it to show up in the game, or even list in the game, by selecting that I want to use mods and scripts. I have deleted all of the career mods, and have not put them back.
But my main issue is, when in the Documents folder, my CC/Mods won't work, and my game won't open. But when I move the "The Sims 4" folder from my documents folder to my desktop, the game launches, but it doesn't have the cc listed. Even if the cc is in the Document folders it's not working.
Either way, my custom content i downloaded is not showing up in the game no matter what "Folder" or place i put the TS4 folder in.
@strasav I've moved your post to the Sims 4 PC tech section.
In order for mods and cc to work, they need to be located in the Sims 4 game folder that's in Documents\Electronic Arts. When you move this folder to the desktop, you're taking everything inside that folder out of play. The game doesn't find its folder, so it spawns a new one with no content.
The fact that your game won't open with certain mods or cc files present means that one or more files in that particular batch is corrupt. You can test by splitting the batch and trying to launch Sims 4 over and over; any batch that prevents the game from loading needs to be split and tested again until you've found the problem file(s).
As for the cc and mods not showing, here's an excellent article that covers the basics:
