Update crashes EA app

Hi, I've been trying to get the latest update (Feb 3 2026) and the app keeps crashing. I gave up at 36% and shut down my PC.

The next day I tried again and the update percentage kept going down. Then it didn't progress for 30 minutes so I quit.

Today, the app crashed but I tried again and I'm stuck at 26% and that's it.

I've cleared caches, repairs app, and I'm not sure what else to try.  I really feel like I'm missing out. I'm seriously angry.

  • The_Mercuria  You can try repairing the game instead, which would give you the updated version.

If that doesn't help, where is Sims 4 installed?  You can see the location in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > Manage add-ons.

You can also try manually uninstalling and reinstalling the newest VC++ runtimes, as the EA App sometimes tries to update/replace these when installing or updating a game that requires them.  Open Windows Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and uninstall anything from 2015 or newer (leave the older runtimes alone).  You can get fresh copies here, under "latest supported redistributable version":

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions, but not the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing the runtimes and before trying to update or repair Sims 4 again.
