Whole pc crashing since last update

for about 2-3 months now since the last small update my game is completely crashing my whole pc. All my games work sims 2 and sims 3 plus other games like dbd and ff14. Everything on my pc is up to date and i have 32 gb of ram and all my specs are high enough to match. I have repaired the game multiple times and ive gone so far as deleting and redownloading and this is still happening. I have spent thousands of dollars in sims games and just want to enjoy what i paid for. Alot of times it will load up the main screen and i can start cas or get into an old game but then it freezes everything on my pc and i have to completely restart my whole system. I have never played with mods. the game doesn't even give me time to change the graphics settings (which ive never had an issue with in the past) Please help its been doing this since like a week or two since hobbies came out.

  • meadowtrip  If you have any files in ConfigOverride, please delete them.

Otherwise, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

i dont know if my last reply will reach you the way i did this LOL but i did as you said

  • meadowtrip  I apologize for the late reply; I've had trouble keeping up with the forums lately.

At any rate, your dxdiag doesn't list any Windows errors at all, which is not normal.  Even a fresh install of Windows usually has one or two.  So the data is getting deleted, or the dxdiag program can't read it, or there's some other reason it's not being recorded.  If you're using an app that deletes temp files, it could be deleting this data too, so please disable it while troubleshooting since we need that data.

Aside from that, try again to play, and when the game crashes, look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
