Sims Mobile... Why Have Timed Quests When Requested Tasks Stop Working?

I think it’s a bit self explanatory but at the moment, in Sims Mobile, there is a quest to unlock the photography career. However, I’m stuck trying to do the required “long hangout” tasks when the option keeps disappearing from the sims and only some to none of the other options like, “quick hangout” will only show up on certain sims. I’ve tried refreshing the app. I’ve logged out of my phone after refreshing the app just to really give it a good restart and the options only show up when it wants to. I think it’s ridiculous to have timed quests when the required tasks choose when to work and when not work. It’s been hours and it’s been 2 days of trying to get this one task done and I thinks it’s unfair that these are timed. There’s only 18 hours and counting left for this quest and I still have 5 other tasks to do and it’s bad enough that these tasks take around 7-8 hours to complete. This issue needs to be fixed. This is highly frustrating. Is there another fix for this. Although, by the time I get an answer, the quest will probably be over 🙄

Stories in Sims Mobile have a defined structure. Long shifts/hangouts/practices are first available when your Sims reach level 3 of any career, relationship or hobby. There is also a chapter event between chapters which can have a duration of 1 or 4 hours depending on the level your Sim has reached in the story.

Your Sim must complete the chapter event in order to continue to the next chapter.

Could this be the reason why long shifts seem to disappear sometimes from your game?

What stories and what levels/chapters are your Sims doing?

This chart shows the structure of the stories and the kind of shifts that are available in each chapter:

  • @SalixCatHi, thanks for the info. I’m still fairly new to it. My sim is level 13 at the moment and has already completed the chapter for the barista job. She knows a few sims but I’ve been focusing on a few at a time. She’s at a level 6 with a sim for the sports chapter but she was at the previous level during the time that I was having the issue. The other chapters that I’ve put some time into are Geek, at a level one and Music, at a level 1 with one sim and a level 3 with another. The level 1 sim for the music and geek chapters only had the quick hangout options available. Other sims are acquaintances and haven’t been given a story yet and they all didn’t have the option for the quick/long hangout, some didn’t have any options for those events at all, I’m assuming bcus i didn’t assign them a chapter. I’ve been mainly focusing on the sports chapter and that’s the one that I didn’t get any options from. At one point, there was a propose event that I noticed in the previous chapter, chapter 5 and even that event disappeared while still in chapter 5. Again, that was before I decided to level the sports chapter up to level 6 and I still don’t see the propose event. I read that there has been a glitch though with the events disappearing from sims so I tried the suggestions on that site first before coming here with my frustrations lol However, the long hangout did eventually show up once I said screw it, and continued to level up my sports chapter. Idk if that’s what you meant in your reply. I’m not sure. Again, I’m less than a week in having this app so I’m still researching and learning it.

There are lots of things to discover and learn about the game.

You mentioned that you have a Sim in the barista career. This is the shortest profession with a total of five chapters, so once you unlock chapter 5 you won't have to worry about events not showing when you need them for a quest.

There is a short introduction hangout between two Sims before you choose a relationship. It has a duration of  something around 40 minutes. After this event, you will be able to choose amongst different kind of stories depending on what kind of introduction your Sim starts with. It can be either friendly, flirty or rivalry.

These 2 Sims will continue as acquaintances if you don't choose a relationship story immediately after this short hangout. You can repeat this short event again whenever you want and choose a relationship story.

The propose event appears after a relationship has reached level 4. Don't worry about this for now because it will unlock a new time limited event, the wedding quest.

I wouldn't recomend doing 2 quests at the same time 🙂

  • @SalixCat Yea, I found the barista career to be quicker to earn funds while doing quests that needs it. The current quest tho, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to unlock it and I’m so close but that whole long hangout really put me back several hours. I did read that it’s possible to change the relationship of the sim you talked to and I’ve been trying to work on that with the guy in the sports chapter. I introduced my sim to him as friends but later, I felt that they were perfect for each other lol and I’m hoping to change it. Is there anyway I can change the chapter after I finish it so I can do a different chapter for the sim I’m already level 6 with?
Also, thank you for the site links. I will take a look at them when I get in. I was wondering if there’s a way to manipulate the room structures, too. When I try to place one inside an already made room, it says it can’t do that.

@thecharsims I really hope you can complete this quest on time 🤞

Regarding the long events, you have probably already discovered that doing a relationship hangout between two of your own playable Sims halves the time. It will take 4 hours instead of 8. Also you can help them by using both Sims' energy. After an hour their energy will be fully recharged so you will be able to continue helping them after that time.

It is not possible to change relationship stories in Sims Mobile, unfortunately. That doesn't mean that you can't add a twist to the story 😉 Friends can get married. ❤️

You can't place a room inside another. Maybe one of the special shaped rooms could work.

  • @SalixCatDang, that’s unfortunate about the rooms. I really want to make a foyer lol I also ended up spending actual cash to complete that event which I really wasn’t trying to do bcus I always get rid of apps when I’m over them and wasting money sucks, especially on an app. Anyway, thank you for the info.
Since you mentioned having 2 sims cuts down the time in half, I was wondering..... So, I’m only playing with the one sim and I want to add the sports chapter sim into my household so my sim and him can get married and that whole thing. However, I’m being weird bcus I want to move him in first and then have him propose to her. I was curious though, before I do anything, will the sports chapter be removed from that sim if I move him in with mine? I finally reached level 8 for the chapter so I can unlock the “move in option” and now I’m wondering if I should do it yet. I want to wait before I do anything. I would hate to have to do that chapter all over again if I move the sim in too soon.

Well, actually. Now, I don’t see the option to move him in. At level 6 or 7, I saw it locked and it said, it has to be unlocked at level 8. Now, I’m at level 8 and I don’t see it.

    Hi @thecharsims

Congratulations! Now you have a new career. Photography is one of my favourites :eahigh_file:

This is how moving in another Sim's player works:

    • Only playable Sims can be asked to move in after reaching level 8 in a relationship. Those who are retired can't move in.
    • You will need to have an empty playable Sim slot available for the Sim that moves in. If not, the Sim won't be able to move in.
    • When you tap on the Ask to move in option, your request will go automatically to the other player who may accept or deny to let their Sim go.

You wrote that the move in option is not visible at level 8. Scroll down through all the options (friendly, romantic, rivalry). If you don't find it, could it be that the other Sim is now retired (hope not). Could you please post a screenshot that shows him?

Now, regarding the ongoing relationship story:

    • Your Sim started that story and "owns" it. Therefore she is the one who will be able to propose.
    • You will be able to continue the same story as it is without losing any progress if he moves in.

Remember that the wedding quest will be triggered as soon as your Sim gets engaged.

  • @SalixCatWell, I can propose to the sim still. There is an event option for that. I just don’t see the option to move in. Also, the sim is just one from the game. It doesn’t belong to a player, at least not to my knowledge bcus he doesn’t have a blue plum bob and I can give him makeovers if I want. I did scroll through all the options when I hit level 8 and didn’t see the option for that sim to move in. I was just wondering if my sim did propose and was able to move the other sim in, would I still be able to complete the sports chapter with that sim even though they are now in my household...?

I tried adding in an image but it says it’s too large and I’m on my phone so I don’t know... but that would suck if I can’t add him to my household. 😔

Also, how can I tell if he’s retired... but I can still propose to him though. I don’t know. I’m confused lol

    @thecharsims

Moving in NPCs (Non Playable Characters) that don't have a plumbob over their head works like this:

    • Only young NPCs can move in when married to playable Sims. There is no Move in option for NPCs at level 8.
    • You don't need to have an empty playable Sim slot available for an NPC. They move in as NPCs, not as playable Sims. You can promote them to playable Sims whenever you want.
    • NPCs move in only when married to playable SIms. Your Sims will therefore have to Propose and marry to the NPC. After the marriage the NPC will automatically move in to your household.
    • When you tap on the Propose option for the first time, the wedding quest will be triggered to start.

Yes, as I said before, you can continue and complete the relationship story.
