The 'events' structure has killed the fun for me
The way new buildings are typically delivered in events now promotes the creating of town 'sections'... (as opposed to the more organic designing promoted by the making available of new buildings at level-up).
I could work with this, but what I can't work with is that attaining new buildings often demands frequent, daily engagement with the game during event periods. It doesn't allow players to play at their own pace, but at EA's pace.
I get why EA has done this, but it's not working for me.
I've been playing this game since near release, and I love the town I've built. But I'm done with the grind of events. A New Year is as good a time as any to decide that I've had enough.
This thread isn't a whine thread. I just needed to make it because I've invested years of my life in this game, and I felt it deserved some kind of obituary. RIP.
