I just need to figure out everything now, there is a lot of new stuff, so far it's great. - I also just bought the whale :(
- IMPORTANT:
when you start the quest involving mom and pop store, send 2 characters first, collect then send the full three, this is the only time they will have a 6 second task for the shovels (that im aware of) so take advantage of it.
as for the shovels im using a battleship method, the middle square between 9 squares. the gem appears to be near stones? - Letting the jobs go, its gonna be about 3 hours before I check on them again. I ran out of Shovels. And I unlocked 3 prehistoric Jungle bushes. This is gonna be hard to play this event. They got a mixture of Prehistoric with other stuff. I'm already looking for a good spot for my Jungle I want to make. I think I may have to let things go into storage for me to put these new things in. I can't handle my lack of item support. My item cap is really high right now.....

EDIT: I misread your post. No I finally bought a whale in my main town. Been saving up for it. I only have 200 donuts in crawl.
Items offered for discount seems to vary from town to town. None of my games have the whale discounted (I own one in my main town). The items discounted in main town are completely different from my other 2 towns.
