Ps4 controller not being detected

I have done everything i can with the steam non-game adding and using the ea app and still i cannot get my controller to connect i cant even get through the main menu cause its not detecting my controller i still have yet to play this game and the only thing I could do was open the game, load in, open ds4, connect controller, game reads it and connects, I press start, game messes up, and you cant open ds4 before you open the game cause ea doesn't allow virtual controllers to be connected while loading in but any other game is fine
