Animal Textures not displaying

This is happening on PC too with all painted cats, dogs, and werewolves. I haven't seen it with horses yet but you're the third person besides me to have it. I thought it was a default eye replacement conflicting. It's not.

this isnt exclusive to animals, it seems to also happen with custom tattoos. not all the time, but seems like the custom painting tool is bugged in general

Yes, I'm thinking the game has lost the ability to "see" the custom overlay and is rendering it as all black. Anything that can be painted is voiding out eventually.

All my pets in my households and my other households have lost all texture since the new nature update, I replaced every pet with a textured one, but when I logged back in again they was all black again.

PLEASE DO NOT REDIRECT THE POST INTO ONE THAT IS LIKE 4 YEARS OLD, AND NEVER GETS LOOKED INTO THIS IS AN PROBLEM NOW!! AFTER THE NATURE UPDATE!!

Omg yes !! It’s probably due to the new match, I hope they fix it soon because I have quite a lot of sims with custom tattoos and with the new fairy pack coming up it’s gonna be a bummer if you can’t use that feature to créature without it simply not working :( 

I am having the same problem! I am currently working on my own save and all the pets in all my households have this issue, I don't have any CC for pets other than eye defaults and don't think it's the issue  bc after replacing the pets with a new on the texture problem hasn't come back so that's the only fix I found so far.

I'm also experiencing this issue in my game. Until yesterday, all pets were normal, but after I overwrote my save, they all turned pitch black. I tried creating new pets, and at first it seemed to work, but whenever I saved the game, closed it, and then reloaded the save, the same bug would appear on the new animals too.

I even tested older saves, and while the pets initially looked fine, the texture issue came back after reloading the save.

I'd like to know if continuing to play on this save could affect it permanently, even if a future update fixes the bug. I've already disabled mods, changed graphic settings, and tried various adjustments, but nothing has worked so far.

I really hope EA fixes this soon, because I just want to be happy playing The Sims again — and not become a mildly depressed young person without access to my virtual pets (that last part is said with irony, of course)

Some what relieving to see that it's not just me. I can confirm that I am seeing the same issue that all the other commenters are reporting in this thread. Everything looks as it should until after I save and restart the game, then all custom painted elements are gone. 
Please be sure when fixing this that those same custom elements on animals and other sims are still editable as expected.
