'Ask About Day' named as 'Check in on' (no GRO)

do you have an interaction called 'Check in on ' and do you have growing together on your console ?

It's all good. Yes, I do have the "Check in on" interaction and the game version in question is Base Game + Holiday Celebration Pack only, so no Growing Together.

So "Ask about Day" became "Check in on" after the Growing Together patch? That's weird! The Want's wording and description still call it "Ask about Day" and if you DO have Growing Together it goes back to being called that. I feel like this HAS TO have been an oversight.

With no expansion packs installed, and either no or few game packs, stuff packs and/or kits installed, sims get a want to Ask [sim] About Day, with no interaction on other sims called Ask About Day, however Check In On [sim] does satisfy the Ask [sim] About Day want. The base game interaction Check In On [sim] should be renamed to Ask About Day to agree with the want. I didn't notice this until playing around with the new Pack Selection feature.

Pretty sure this is another one of those “the check was coded wrong so that if you don’t have the pack it always returns true even though the default should be false” bugs. I also had this change after the GRO patch until I installed GRO. Once you have GRO the “check in on” rename of “ask about day” is only for certain family members. I think there’s a few GRO interactions like this, and some actions from other packs as well.
