I'm running a small local library as a business using the new expansion pack and have selected the "Read" activity for customers. They do read the books, but they never put them away. Instead, they leave them on nearby surfaces, eventually covering all available space. I believe Sims are supposed to return books after reading them, as this issue can disrupt other activities. For example, if you run a café where customers can read, tables can become cluttered with books, making them unusable.
simminchillin If you assign an employee to clean, do they put the books away?
I assigned cleaning to both customers and employees. Better, but they do tend to abandon assigned task.
I do not recommend hiring a Maid. She did put books away, but it got expensive as she kept at it until "dismissed."
Same issue here, it's beyond annoying. I assigned 'cleaning' to customers, but they barely ever do it... Employees are a little better at it, but having an employee only to put books back in place is ridiculous! Sims should be able to return books autonomously.
Edit: Actually, since assigning 'cleaning' to customers they keep picking up random books and putting them back down on the same surface they got them from...
same here for months. customers pick up books, read them but don't put them back on the bookshelves, only on surfaces like dining tables or the floor. even with “cleaning” it's no better. it's no fun -.-
ok, so the error is definitely not a mod problem. i have just deactivated mods, deleted localthumbcache, tested a completely new sim and savegame and the problem still persists. the sims do not put the books back on the bookshelf.
