I am trying to remove a dad / husband from being related to the people in the house, but it's not working. I have done "testingcheats true" and "cas.fulleditmode". When it loads to CAS, I click on "husband" and try change it to "household member", it won't let me select it. Same as "father" to "household member". Nothing happens.

Yeah, that will do it. Unfortunately the phantom parents limit what you can do.
Agreed. I have an "Unknown" parent given to a Sim that has parents I'd like to assign them, but the "Unknown" Sim won't go away.
I'm having this issue. I thought at first it was a mod UI issue, but from looking around this sounds like its a consequence of the family tree trying to fill in gaps the player has not controlled.
I took out my mods, deleted my cache, repaired my game typed in the necessary cheats and this is still happening.
I cannot even change the husband and son into household plain members, I click on it and it does nothing.
Phantom parents keep popping up in the family tree and family relationships in general just keep moving around when loading in and out of the game. for example Jacob is suppose to be the son of the founder not his wife, (the daughter in law became the daughter) this happened after I reloaded into the game. It's completely ruined several families in my save.
I've been having similar issues with being unable to edit the relationships in a household. It's very frustrating.
I agree "It would be nice if manually allocating relatives would just override the unknown one."

Recently was gifted R&L, so I've been going through and retroactively building some families up a bit. I wanted to add grandparents to a household that previously didn't have grandparents. Two of the sims are sisters and I generated sims via genetics--the dad from one sister, the mom from the other. Once I had done this, I could NOT assign the mother to the other sister and vice versa with the father. They didn't have the full list of relationships available. I moved the grandparents out, saved them separately to the gallery/library and deleted them, then re-added them to the household to attempt fixing their relationships that way. This did not help and, in fact, made the issue worse. Both grandparents CAN be one of the sister's husband's parents though (and could be when I'd first made them as well).
Father is correctly assigned to this sim, but there is no option for her mother to be anything other than a Household Member or Partner. After moving the parents out, saving them to the Gallery, and adding them back in, the mother could be a sister or partner, but not a mother.Father assigned correctly to one daughter, but cannot be assigned to the other.Same as above, but inverted.No Mods/CC. I just made a post before discovering this one about this exact same issue. Wasn't aware it was a pre-existing issue as I have been able to do it before just fine but that was in 2024 I believe
Community ManagerI tend to still have this issue until today where I can’t create parents for when it’s multiple sim siblings .. I’ve tried and it changes the relationship status as well .. it does however all you to do it for a single child sim then if you want to add a sibling / child .. you can use the parents genetics but I was to create grandparents for existing multi sibling sims
