After I place one item the next item I select won't place, it flips back to where it was previously, or is carries around by my mouse indefinitely. I found by clicking a different tool across the top...

I'm also having this issue; it started about 2 months ago and it's consistently an issue for me as well, regardless if I have mods/CC installed or not. It also doesn't appear to be related to the bb.moveobjects cheat either.
The only way to get around it that I have found is:
- Place one object
- Select sledgehammer tool and wave over random item (no need to actually remove anything, just make sure it shows the selection silhouette/highlight of object)
- Re-select pointer tool
- Place next object
It's obviously not a fix but at least you can still build stuff if you have to.
