I have looked into the "Musical Genius" aspiration. In order to test out this feature I stuck a 5 Sisters consisting of a Vampire, Werewolf, Fairy, Alien, and Normal Sim in the Old Salt House of the Spice District. It was a brand-new save file with default settings and free will turned off.
In the Musical Genius Aspiration, the second set of tasks is to Reach level 4 of an instrument skill and play an instrument while inspired. While I had no problems with the first one its the second that gave me trouble. The singing skill was used to try and achieve the "Play an instrument for 1 hour while inspired". It does not work on “The Lyrical Amplifier Karaoke Machine” or “The Royal We Microphone” so I had to pull out the portable keyboard from City Living to complete this requirement.
