I have looked into the "Musical Genius" aspiration. In order to test out this feature I stuck 5 Sisters consisting of a Vampire, Werewolf, Fairy, Alien, and Normal Sim in the Old Salt House of the Spice District. It was a brand-new save file with default settings and free will turned off. I used the freerealestate cheat to move in. Once moved I sent them inside and locked the door. All 5 of them got the same traits of Active, Loner and Muser. With the same Bonus trait of Music Lover. The Only sim I did not make for the challenge was the Vampire I pulled from my catalogue. The vampire was played as a child and saved day 1 of being a Young Adult years ago. When asked I declined new traits, likes/dislikes, and family dynamics. This was tested with a mix of sim and occult forms. The Alien and Fairy where in Occult form the whole time.

If the “The Lyrical Amplifier Karaoke Machine” counts as an instrument in part 1 then I should be able to play it while inspired in part 2.
By the time I made it to part 4 of the Aspiration my sims had played plenty of music across the various instruments. I had help back with the first sim to complete the aspiration to this stage so I could find out if getting a skill to level 10 worked. Yes, I can confirm that in my game the Vampire who got to the final stage of this aspiration and then hit singing skill 10 checked off that requirement of the aspiration. Outside of the fact that you can't mentor a person in the DJ skill I had no problems with that part either.
2 of the 5 sims Completed the Aspiration due to Write Song / Book / Lyrics Loses Progress | EA Forums - 4973703 making it longer and harder than it needs to be. Also, the Rage form of a Werewolf I left on by default was also slowing me down.

- I have finished all the recent Events and unlocked those items as well
