Controls Displayed on Screen

Last night, I was playing one of my saves that I hadn't turned Discovery Quests off on yet, and when one popped up it had the sort of streaky misalignment at the top left that happens sometimes with an outdated mod (I had recently updated some of my mods, but I figured maybe another one needed checking) and the tasks for the quest were sort of floating over the screen just a bit about the active sim's picture when something like Skills or Inventory was open, or towards the top right if nothing like that was open. I couldn't get the trash can symbol that closes the prompt to appear so I closed the game because it was late and decided to check mods later. I did also switch off DQ's in the menu before closing.
I did the most recent update, and pulled half my mods and loaded back in and noticed that the DQ tasks were still there floating weirdly, but now I had the trash can symbol. However, the floating tasks didn't disappear when that closed. I closed down the game again and pulled all my mods out. Went back into the save, and the floaty tasks were still there. Exited to Main Menu and recovered from an earlier save - still floating tasks. Went to manage worlds and came back to same household - still floating tasks. Went to manage worlds and went to a new household - still floating tasks. Created a brand new save - still floating tasks. Closed game and repaired game in the EA App, booted back up and created a new save again - still floating tasks.
I don't know what else to try. Any help would be appreciated.
Images are from the last attempt (mods removed, game repaired, new save).
