[DU] Default university households never vacate dorms
Issue Description:
The unplayed default university households — specifically the Fletcher household and the Best of Friends household (Julia Wright and Becca Clarke) — remain permanently in their assigned university dormitory lots and never leave, even as they age and eventually graduate. They do not free up the dorm lots for other Sims that the player might want to move in. The player must manually evict them every single time they want to use a dormitory for their own Sim.
Expected Behavior:
Unplayed default university households should either:
- Move out of dorms after graduating or dropping out (making room for new students), or
- Be replaced by new NPC students over time, or
- At minimum, free up the lot when the Sims age.
The dorms should function as dynamic student housing where the population changes over time, not as permanent residences for the same Sims indefinitely.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Install Discover University expansion pack.
- Start a new save file (do not manually evict or modify the default households).
- Play for several in-game generations (or long enough for the default Sims to age into Elders and die).
- Periodically check the university dormitory lots in Britechester (e.g., Wyvern Hall, where the Best of Friends household starts).
Actual Result:
- The Fletcher and Best of Friends households never leave their assigned dormitory lots.
- They remain in the dorms from the start of the save until they die of old age.
- The player must manually evict these households via Manage Worlds every single time they want to use a dormitory for their own Sim.
Affected Households:
| Household | Members | Starting Location | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best of Friends | Julia Wright, Becca Clarke | Wyvern Hall (dorm) | Never vacates, dies in place |
| Fletcher | (name varies by save) | University dorm | Never vacates, dies in place |
Additional Notes:
- This may be related to a broader issue where the university progression system does not properly advance unplayed households. Students never graduate, fail out, or move on — they simply stay forever.
- The issue affects both Britechester and Foxbury university dorms.
Workaround:
The player must manually evict these households via Manage Worlds before moving their own Sim into any university dormitory lot. This must be repeated for each new save and potentially each time a new Sim wants to use a dorm.
Impact:
Significantly reduces immersion and quality of life for university gameplay. The default households block access to pre-made dormitory lots indefinitely. Players who enjoy the university experience across multiple generations or multiple Sims must repeatedly perform manual cleanup of these households, which is tedious and breaks the flow of gameplay. The dorms feel stagnant rather than dynamic student communities.
