(since the last patch this is when I noticed this happening for me at least)
I'm not sure if related or not, but when I did have the vampires going to a university and were enrolled in soccer, my vampire would sometimes show up back home for some reason with an injury. I can still make him do things but I can't access his inventory because "he's not here"

Sorry for the late response. Unfortunately, I can't give a picture anymore since my computer decided to royally screw me over when I attempted to upgrade from Win10 pro to Win11 and so I was forced to clean the drive that had my save file.
But if it helps from memory: The vampire sim was not greyed out. I can tell him what to do, although I was not able to access his inventory until after his soccer event was over. It only happened *after* he got an injury from the practice/game.
If I could show you a picture of it, I would but I can try again shortly since I'm obviously in a brand new game and starting over from scratch. Kind of wish I had the save in a cloud or something so I could show it to help :(
Just an inaccessible inventory does sounds very strange. Was the inventory icon greyed out ?
Probably a bit hard to replicate but would be interesting to see if it occurs again on a new save.
