[EBN] Constant Kitchen Fire because of bad Luck

My sim catches fire almost everytime she cooks! She has skill and a great stove! Hard to play with SOOOOOOOOOO many problems in game these days!!!

Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title to better reflect the issue

There are several causes for constant fires. For now, I believe this one is because of bad luck so if you don't own EBN or have luck turned off, please create your own thread.

Known causes (potentially fixed)

  • Fear of Fire ?
  • Cursed book event (objects catching fire)
  • Cursed Lots
  • Tense Mood
  • Fireplaces
  • Firepits
  • Low cooking skill & cheap appliance (not a bug)

  • Between Bad Luck and Burning Passion Ailment; together they are a force. So with "Luck turned off", it is just the Ailment and pre-existing triggers for fires. It is really too much hopefully they fix this.

SimmerKayyDubbs I merged your post with the bad luck thread as that's the most likely reason if you do have the pack. Let me know if that's not the case for you

Let me know if you don't own enchanted by nature.

Breaking items also have multiple causes

    • Fairy toddlers
    • Evil Gnomes
    • Potentially also bad luck.
  • Is there anyway to make the bad luck less frequent? Like unless my sims are fairies I can’t even cook without something catching on fire. Their luck just stays bad more often than the good

I want to play with Luck on but right now, any time a Sim with Bad Luck tries to prepare dinner, 100% of the time its a fire. I refuse to let a Sim touch a stove until they have lvl 2 in cooking because the base percent for starting a fire due to low skill is way to high, and now the Luck system makes Sims who are expert cooks cause fires.

Honestly this is just pure stupid coding, its not even a chance of a fire, it feels like 100% if you have Bad Luck, don't cook, which is dumb because alot of times in most of my families I have 1 Sim who is the cook, the rest either don't have it, or its low and I don't let them cook.

So after I bought the new expansion pack my sims just can’t cook on the oven or the grill. I get that when my sims are having bad luck they might have a higher chance of creating a fire. But now it’s everytime they cook, doesn’t matter if they have bad luck or not. I decided that I just have to delete all the ovens and grills. They just eat salads and stuff now.

  • Maybe those without EbN have the previous existing chances of causing kitchen fires (basically "as is" atm for those without EbN), but those with EbN only have those same (or ever so slightly higher) chances while with bad luck. Instead of ultra high chances with bad luck exasperated with also the usual ways.

Meaning while with good luck you cannot trigger kitchen fires at all, most likely not/never with ordinary luck and a chance (or slightly higher chance) with bad luck.

    Fixed

When cooking, Sims with Bad Luck are now less likely to start a fire.

    Fixed in Patch  1.117.221/2.18
