[EBN] Invisible Debug Shroomie Buddies spawning on lot
Had the strangest glitch the other day, where I couldn't place furniture in my sim's house in build mode. I kept getting the popup saying that I couldn't intersect other objects, even when I removed every other piece of furniture in the house. Then, when I got fed up and moved the room to make it smaller, it told me something had been added to my household inventory. When I checked, there was a debug version of a shroomie buddy, the small toy for children that comes with Enchanted by Nature. Thought that was weird, tried it again elsewhere in the house, and sure enough, two more appeared there after drawing walls. In total, I apparently had five little invisible debug toys that had somehow spawned on my lot.
none of my sims have the plant lover trait and i've never seen an animation from my kids (then again, i have two younger ones that i've been paying more attention to to get their milestones while having the kids also do homework and get through their aspirations). but i do see my one plant looking like it's enchanted but not? idk, it has the swirly green around it sometimes. idk if that's connected or not.
I'm getting this strange thing as well. Using the 64x64 lot in Innisgreen world, Fern & Frond Wading Pond. There haven't been any child/toddler sims on the lot at all. Was a fresh save and no families were ever living on the lot. Have a fairy sim living on the lot running an outdoor flower shop, she only had a fairy home and the Starseed teleporter. The only building I had was a very tiny room to have a few planters for flowers. That room was like a 3x3 I have no idea if its tied to enchanting the flowers or not but I'm finding the little things around the area I'm building her new house in (got married, had one kid and two more on the way), I can't be sure but I've found aprox. 12 of them now through out various points of building and expanding the house. At first I just thought I couldn't place stuff outside because of the uneven terrain on the lot, but when putting up rooms and trying to place objects I got the message about object in the way. The first one I found was when I built the house and moved the garden house and have been finding them at random ever since, so I really have no idea if there are more hidden on the lot or not.
I have tried a completely brand new save with just a random sim i turned into a fairy, bulldozed the lot and flattened it and couldn't find any of the little things. The only mods I use add clothing and MCCC. I don't know if it is tied to it but I had evil gnomes at one point that were messing with the plants and that was some time before I started moving the buildings around to make the house and started finding them. Its annoying but when the message about not being able to place objects come up I just pause what I'm doing and play hunt mushroom by putting up walls and moving them around while zoomed in looking for the highlights of an object that will be sold or moved and if I see one I just put some extra walls in and move them around tell the item pops into the household inventory and then go back to building again.
Its weird and I've not seen them anywhere else but the current lot since its the first one I've been building on so I don't know if they are anywhere else in the worlds. I use all the packs expect most of the kits.
Small update I found more at random around the sims house in areas I had checked already, so it was like they were spawning in randomly in areas they weren't in before. The only fix I found so far was to go to a fresh save upload the lot to my gallery, then go back to the main save and take everything from their house and replace the lot with the one I saved to my gallery so it was the same lot from the expansion pack (the fairies one). Rebuilt house and have not had any other issues with it. I really don't know what caused it or if it will come back as I have not had enough time progress in game to find out.
I managed to capture a save using only the base game and EBN with no mods and a freshly repaired game. The entire user folder was relocated to generate new files prior to starting.
I've been tracking this issue for the last month and have found a few things to note. These debug items can be made visible with a couple ways in Build/Buy mode.
If it's outside, you can select "Move Lot (Y)" and their bounding box will be shown along with everything else. They appear as small green dots that appear to be attached to nothing when canceling the operation. Note harvestable plants also generate separate items of similar size. Debug items inside a room are made visible entirely when you select and attempt to move a room. While a preview of the room with all items inside it are on the cursor, you can still zoom in on the preview and use the camera controls to inspect the area. On PC, if you hold the right mouse button by default, it'll hold the room preview to the grid and you can use WASD to move the camera around, moving the mouse will still spin the camera around (mouselook) as normal.
Here's a sample save file where these items spawned. There's only one played household, just load that and look at their home lot. There's a couple of the debug items located on the walkway in front of the front door. This is considered a room, so you can spot them by attempting to move it around.
In my time of testing. I only had observed these showing up in areas that Fairy Dust had been generated on lot, both by a fairy bathing themselves and fairy woohoo. It seems intermittent at best with a relatively low chance of happening per interaction. It took almost 4 hours of gameplay to capture this instance.
Users encountering these can get rid of them by building a room around them and deleting the room. They do get moved to household inventory if you manage to build a wall over one, but this isn't reliable as they can spawn in spots of a tile where a wall can't intersect.
After being annoyed enough by these spawning, I decided to dig around to find out what these are. Apparently, the only debug item using the icon and model of the specific child's toy is proxy_FairyWing (ObjectDefinitionResource Instance ID 70898), referencing the object tuning object_CarryWingProxy (Tuning ID 45218). These are used to control when fairy wings are shown by use of an invisible carry object on the back slot of fairies.
I can only speculate how these are being deposited on the ground periodically and not destroyed when unequipped. I've done a series of testing up to and including force-resetting fairy sims that usually dumps carried objects on the ground as sims self-resetting is still common, with results being inconclusive.
