Gallery screenshot is blocked by trees/objects on several lots

There is an old thread about this issue from 8 years ago but since this is now an issue again, I want to report it.

As the title says, when uploading a lot to the Gallery/Library  the game generates the first screenshot wrong. Only showing trees instead of the house view. You don't see the lot anymore because trees are in front.

  • Yup! And, if you use your own photo, the gallery marks the lot as modded (thereby reducing the number of players who might download it).

I wish EA would add an option to take our own photos when we upload a build.

I tried placing the same building in the same lot of a new game data, making some modifications, and then saving it to my library, but the tree was reflected in the first image, which was very disappointing.

The image is Glimmerbrook: Brooks Bridge Borough.

I couldn't find any images, but in Dachshund's Creek in Brindleton Bay, The one-story building (the second floor is the roof) is well preserved, but the two-story building (the third floor is the roof) is covered with trees.

  • Since I installed the last update, the cover photos for my builds have changed rather dramatically and not for the better. More specifically, they seem to now zoom way in on parts of the surrounding foliage, which is in turn often low-poly and therefore very muddy up close. These bad cover photos make my builds look less appealing at best and outright obscure them at worst. Here are two examples of what I'm talking about:

Sometimes rotating the lot helps make the building more visible in the cover image (this is what I did for the second image), but for the most part, it's just big muddy green blobs all around.

I normally use mods, but I tested this with all my mods disabled and the problem persisted.

I would like for my cover images to not zoom in on foliage near my build. Barring that, I would appreciate at least being able to pick which image I am going to use as the cover image for my builds. All of the other images generated by the game for the library and gallery are fine, so that would mitigate the issues here.

  • yes im on console its the same for me !!!!!!! this been happening for at least 4 years i really wish they address this

I have the same problem in the Dresden House 64x64 lot (Windslar, Windenburg)

    Platform: PC

    Operating System: Windows

    Issue:

When saving a lot in the Dresden House 64x64 lot (Windslar, Windenburg), the main gallery image is automatically taken from a fixed angle that places a large tree (not part of the lot) directly in front of the house, partially blocking the front view.

This did not happen before (older builds on the same lot had unobstructed gallery images), so it seems to be due to a recent update or change in how camera angles are handled.

    Expected result:

The gallery image should show a clear, unobstructed front view of the build.

    Steps to reproduce:

Enter build mode on the Dresden House lot.
Build a new structure close to the center/front of the lot.
Save the lot to the gallery.
The gallery screenshot will show a tree in the middle of the image.
