My sims in certain occupations seem to be stuck in a never-ending work rivalry loop. I first noticed it with a sim in the tech occupation. I rebuilt his relationship with his former best friend 4 times before I realized he was thrown back into that work rivalry every time he went to work with a clean slate. Perhaps that sim is messed up? So, I move on to another household-same save, where the only sim in that household is on the civil designer career path and is lovers with her former work rival. First day back at work and... her and her "lover" are now bitter enemies with a fresh work rivalry. I repair that relationship over the course of a few days, send my sim off to work and work rivalry has ended. She and her former rival celebrate in a NSFW manner that night, relationship bars maxed out. The next day, work rivalry reinstated and they hate each other once again.
Fresh save, premade household, Travis Scott is on the tech guru path but first, workplace rivalry. Dumb luck. Or at least I thought so. Build friendship, end rivalry, enjoy days off hanging out with former rival turned new best bud, go to work..., exit without saving because this just has to be RNG screwing with me by throwing another rivalry. Reload, refrain from spending the day after the initial rivalry ended with former rival this time, go to work the day after, same work rivalry again. I switched to a different pre-made, spend a couple hours getting him friendly with Akira--Travis Scott's workplace rival, put him in the tech guru career, and sure enough, him and Akira are suddenly rivals and no longer best friends. I repair the friendship, get the rivalry cleared message while my sim is at work, I then delete Akira Kibo, and let my sim enjoy his days off. The next workday he comes home with a new rival--Travis Scott. I know the tech industry can be cutthroat, but this is just ridiculous. Granted, I have not been playing much this year other than to test when the latest bug fixes have been pushed, but I do not recall workplace rivalries being so prevalent or destructive to pre-existing relationships.
