Ice in fridges don't melt after leaving and re-entering the lot

When using the "Off The Grid" Lot Trait and compatible fridges, Ice will drain normally after using the "Add Ice" interaction, but only as long as I remain on that lot. Once I travel and return, or reload the game, the Ice no longer drains on that fridge. The same thing happens, but in reverse when using the "turn off utilities for all fridges" interaction. The fridge stops draining power utility, but only until the lot is reloaded in some way, at which point it starts draining again, despite the fridge still showing as not using power in terms of available interactions. Once all the  available power utility is used up, the fridge stops draining power and starts draining ice, which I believe is the intended behavior.

The workaround for me has been to turn on then turn off again utilities on fridges every time I load the game, but often forget and end up quickly losing all power generated since it usually takes at least 5 sources of power generation to sustain the cheapest off the grid fridges.

I'm moving this over to that thread then.

This sounds more like an actual bug than some oversight with off-the-grid.

crinrict Yes, I think so. I have seen ice at 100% and staying there after returning to my lot.

  • Off the grid capable refrigerators will sometimes not use ice when there is no power. I'm not entirely sure of the trigger conditions, but I've seen it numerous times, both in modded and unmodded games (but the modded games don't have any mods that affect refrigerators or off-the-grid behavior.) I have observed, but only so far in modded games, that when stored power is used up (such as at night when the only power source is solar panels) that ice does start to get used. The "don't use power" switch on refrigerators (available only when there is power available on the off-the-grid lot) also doesn't seem to work, as they don't use ice while that switch is set (again, only observed so far in modded games.)

  • My intention was for this thread to report the power bug, not the ice bug,

  • Thankscrinrict. I know you changed the title to match the archived thread but can you somehow flag the part about power draining? That feels like the more intrusive part of the bug, or possibly even a seperate bug.
