This is a 6 year old bug, still not fixed. When a sim gets a tan, the outfit that leaves the tanlines changes the sims portrait to an ugly distorted preset in the UI, when you change the outfit to a different one it goes back to normal, but if you change back to the sunbathing outfit the ugly face come back. It’s happening only with the sunkissed moodlet, when a sim burns their UI is normal, only happening with tans. Please fix this bug, because I can’t use the tanning feature since island living came out because of this, I dont want my sims to be ugly on their portraits!!!
My bad, of course! And shopping cart icon was added, so even when you play you don't forget to give away more money. Of course there is no time to fix bugs!
I still haven't verified it myself, but two simmers confirmed that SAVE or SAVE AS... then EXIT and DELETE your localthumbcache.package file works.
I've been fighting with crappy internet and working on a couple projects, so I haven't gotten around to poking around the Tuning for these interactions yet, but I haven't forgotten. I'll get to it SOON™.
"No Tan Overlay" removes the tan overlay completely, which squashes the problem entirely.
Sunbathing actions aren't affected at all. You will still gain the "Tan" and "Burnt" Buffs after sunbathing. You just won't see a tan overlay on your sim. I figure someone who doesn't like the tan overlay but still wants to sunbathe might find use for this.
If your SimBust thumbnails are already broken, then you need to "reset" them by deleting your "localthumbcache.package" file located in Documents » Electronic Arts » "The Sims 4".
"Appearance Modifier" uses an "appearance_modifier" to force the SimBust thumbnail to reset.
An "appearance_modifier" alters what your sim is wearing, so to make this as non-intrusive as possible, I created a simple invisible "Wrist (Left)" accessory for my "appearance_modifier".
If the sim is wearing a "Wrist (Left)" accessory, then it will be HIDDEN while the "Tan" or "Burnt" sunbathing Buffs are active, and magically reappear when the Buff expires.
This BAND-AID don't care if your SimBust thumbnails are broken. The "appearance_modifier" will reset them the next time you sunbathe.
"BAND-AIDS" are not "BUGFIXES". If I'm correct in my assessment, which I often am, then this issue originates in the PYTHON files squirreled away in our INSTALL FOLDER, just like the "outfit generation" issue that's breaking our Nude/Bathing outfits (I have a BAND-AID for that too). These aren't things that we can BUGFIX easily on our end.
