Thanks for ur patience I had work today, I followed the steps and unfortunately this did not fix the issue.
Tested on a new save & with & without cc/mods. Still only happens on mermaid sims.

Do you have get to work ? If so, do you also have issues with aliens ? There's a thread for that here: [GTW] Aliens Crash Game | EA Forums - 11998155 although OP didn't come back.
Could you also try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

I do have GTW and I didn't bring it up since I thought aliens might be a different issue but yes Aliens also crash my game. But with Aliens I can't even get the opportunity to create them in cas, the moment I click to change them to that occult my game instantly crashes.
I tried this method again earlier after the driver reinstall, and still no luck sadly.
EDIT: Reading the post you linked I am experiencing that same issue with my aliens.Thanks. Seems the graphics driver related errors are now gone from your DxDiag. So that's at least something.
There was also a crash report for aliens in PC tech but not sure if they found a solution.
I've adjusted the title on yours now to be about both aliens and mermaids (do you have issues with other occults too) ?
I can't read lastCrash files and usually they are too long to just c/p and you can't upload them either but maybe you could upload yours to google or one drive and add the link to your post. It will certainly help Maxis.
Sure I can do that for you :) But I use Mega so I hope that's okay.
I've deleted the old crashes to I re-opened my game and got a new one for you. I test the remaining occults, Spell casters, vampires & werewolves and they do not crash my game.
