I understand what you're saying about the game engine loading photos/painting "at much lower resolutions then it did a year ago," but do you know around what date/update the saves would have started locking us in with the low resolution versions? This thread goes back about 4 months but I had been playing all through December with a household that was taking a lot of photos and didn't notice anything was wrong until this week.
I'm just trying to figure out if any of the saves I have backed up, which go back to the start of December, would still have the higher resolution versions of the in-game photos intact. If EA decides to revert whatever they changed, I can just start playing again with one of the old saves, even if I lose a little bit of gameplay. I'd wait to save again until there is a fix so I don't overwrite with the low resolutions version, and be "locked in," as you mention. Hopefully that makes sense...
Roughly speaking I think it was a patch in Feb 2025 that started nerfing the resolution of in-game images. Photos specifically, then somewhere I think in August they did the same to the rest of the in-game images like paint-by-reference and other misc ones.
I have a save from December 2024 and in it I can see images saved at resolutions like 576x1024 (large painting I think) and 768x576 (Medium photo in landscape) and such.
Now they don't get higher then 192x256 (large photo).
