I loaded into a save for the first time in a little under a month and immediately noticed that my medium- and large-sized photos have become blurry, as if they've been compressed. It's to the point where they're kind of hard to look at. I frequently take and rearrange photos, so I would've noticed it before. I tried this with a save that I'd opened since the update, one that I hadn't opened since the update, and one that I hadn't opened with mods disabled. It was the same each time. I've attached a screenshot so you can see, for reference, that the larger photo is noticeably blurrier than the small one. (The small photo in the screenshot is from a photo booth, which I know works a bit differently, but I didn't notice any abnormal blurring in the other small photos.) It's a bit dark though, my apologies

Anyone know if there is a fix for this? Mod-wise I mean. It's really off-putting to play with all photos being pixelated.
Also get your friends or whoever to vote on this issue so it can get fixed.I've searched really deep and can't find any references to custom image resolutions in the places I've found. I think these are defined in regions of the game that modders can't access. Really shame they've ruined one of the most interesting meta-experiences of this game like this.
I just want the OPTION to take higher quality images vs these low-res pixel dumps we're stuck with now. They used to be literally 3-4x the quality they are now.
Hey EA_Cade is there any chance we could get the Sims team reply on if this resolution reduction was an intentional change, or if this indeed is a bug that may still get fixed?
I noticed the change the day I made the original post. According to a Discord post I made on the subject that was 8/27/25. I'd played about a month/little less than a month before that, and I'm pretty sure there was one patch in there?? I assumed it was after that patch. I don't know about paint by ref paintings, but I know for sure that photos weren't bad quality before that. At least mine weren't.
I added the tag, hopefully that's okay even if I can't verify myself 😅 Added PS5 too since my friend experienced the issue there
For me, this issue started with the 08/19/25 update (PC: 1.117.227.1030 / Mac - 1.117.227.1230). This patch included some performances updates.
Save files I have from before this date don't have the issue (as described in one of my previous posts, it reduces the size of pictures stored in the file when loading a lot that includes custom paintings and photos, no matter their size - it's less visible on small photos but it's also there).
I can't play my save file since then, as loading any household would destroy the quality of any picture there, and except by manipulating the file through the Sims 4 Studio, I can't revert them back (and there is no point to that, as they would be blurry again the next time I play).
I wish this issue will be solved one day, but I kind of lost hope, it doesn't seem acknowledged at all by the team, and with the on-going issues regarding paintings and photos, I don't think it's seen as a priority. Even the pictures in the trailer of the next pack are blurry...

It's a travesty that they ignored/didn't notice it there even and this completely rules out mods being a culprit (I had no mods when this was discovered anyway). I want to play but I also don't want to ruin my photos so I haven't really played for months. Everyone, get your friends to vote on this issue and post complaints.
We don't have photos in the game anymore anyway ...
