This is also happening to me. Edith moves away from her zone, to be replaced with a non-ghost random SIM that has all her default interactions. I'm never using mods or anything, this was a "fresh" save file.
After a while, Edith reappeared, but only for few days. Now it seems that they are sharing the "edith" role.
