I looked through these categories on different lot types, with testingcheats on, bb.showhiddenobjects and still I just kind find what's new. These markers showed up after the latest update (2 dec. 2025) before then my list was clear from stars. Play on PC, never used mods or CC.

I might be wrong but just got a hypotesis this is related to the new event rewards. The items aren't available in catalog as they are not claimed yet but all of them are added to the game and visible via Sims 4 Studio.
I am having the same issue, ALSO since the new update.
I bought the Bikini Bottom collection and logged into the game to check out the new items. After checking all the new items in buy mode, I noticed that some categories remained yellow, but when I went into them, I didn't find any new items. I tried entering codes to view hidden items and trying to build on empty lots (in case these items are only for public spaces). But no new items appeared in those categories. I don't have many mods and haven't had this problem before. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?
My game is showing there is something new/unseen in my build mode by showing gold highlighted, but there is nothing new in my game. I can't get the gold note images to go away. I clicked on every single item in the category, but it is still there.
It's saying it's activities and skilles, kids, appliances, and off the grid..
That's what I think too and that once you do the upcoming event and collect the items and then clear them as being new the new highlights will go away.
Not sure what will happen if you don't do the event though!
I've been experiencing this since the most recent update too. I do not have the new kits.
