I am experiencing the same problem on my mac. The pets are also turning black including the horses.
The pets turning black is likely another bug which is when you use the painting tool, they turn black. It happened to me today. When you remove the paint, they become normal again. Same can happen when you use the customized tattoos from Businesses and Hobbies on sims
